Hitting the stairs is a great way to kick up your workouts. With the lower impact to the knees and ankles, they’re an awesome alternative to regular sprinting. Most of my clients are able to hit the stairs pain-free, and it’s a great workout. If you don’t believe me, take the stairs instead of the elevator! My recommendation for most people is to start with simply walking the stairs as this will be challenging enough. Progress from walking to jogging to sprinting. This can be a great cardio workout or simply a good fat-burning finisher. Aim for 1-3 rounds for either distance or time, and progress to 5-10 and really ramp things up!
