Two weeks ago, I participated in my second Tactical Strength Challenge, hosted worldwide by StrongFirst. I witnessed PR’s fall like dominoes and every day people overcome adversity to succeed. More important than weights and reps, I saw the most important aspect to any great gym: Community.
Though there is definitely a competitive environment, everyone came together and encouraged each other to get better. Nothing is more exhilarating than the crowd cheering a competitor on as they struggle to perform well during a difficult event. This is what the gym environment is all about, and the type of culture that we try to foster.
The great thing about the gym is that most people are there to work towards a goal. This is especially important to us trainers because we’ve personally seen health and fitness completely change peoples’ lives. Being in this positive, upbeat environment will bring out the best in us all. Many people are very intimidated by the gym atmosphere, but ironically it’s one of the most supportive environments to be in. While it’s up to them to break out of their comfort zone and come in, it’s up to us to make it feel like a second home so they never leave.
To your lifelong health and success,
