Life can be very challenging at times, I totally understand that. Family, bills, career, social life, responsibilities, the list goes on. I’ll be totally honest with you and admit that I feel overwhelmed from time to time just like everyone else. Luckily for me, most of the stress in my life comes from positive sources. I love my life and feel very appreciative for everyone and everything I have.
It can be tough to stay on track with what truly matters. In the day of a smartphone that brings virtually limitless possibilities, it can be very challenging. Think about keeping in touch with people, for example. If you have a cell phone, there’s calls, voicemails and text messages. If you’re on social media platforms, add the instant messaging features of each on top. Don’t forget good old email (my inbox is flooded as we speak).
I believe in many ways that we have too many options and that it’s smothering us. Don’t think I’m just here to bash technology, I love it! I use social media daily to engage with my friends, family and clients. However, it can be very easy to get caught up “being busy” but not doing anything productive. Be honest, how is scrolling the Instagram or Facebook feed going to help you reach your goals? How about worrying and stewing over a situation for which you have no control?
What is critical to your success in life is this: FOCUS! Take three deep breaths and then focus on what’s actually important. Not what other people tell you should matter or what you think is crucial, look deep within yourself. This true list of essential things will be very short when you take a good look. The next time you’re feeling overwhelmed with too much to do, slow down. Take three deep breaths, and focus on what’s actually important. Let that guide your daily tasks. You’ll lose track, we all do and that’s okay. Stop pretending that you have to be superhuman and do everything to please everyone. All you have to do is refocus, realign and keep moving forward. Why do we fall? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.
To your lifelong health and success,
