I want to start by thanking everyone in the healthcare field.  In my eyes, you are soldiers on the battlefield, in the trenches and on the front lines caring for our sick despite the risk.  My heart goes out to you and your families, thank you so much for what you do.

During this quarantine, we’ve all suffered in our own way.  Don’t get caught up in the “who has it worse” game, this is unnecessary and useless.  I’ve always been a glass half-full kind of guy, and I’ve decided to look at the quarantine as an opportunity.

I have more time than ever now, this has given me the chance to train without having to rush to the next appointment.  I can take a full 1.5-2 hours to hit my strength work, mobility and aerobics. This is especially useful as I’m working on new skills (currently training to perform a strict pistol squat).  In addition, I’m able to read and study so I stay sharp. A good bit of the time has been constructive for me. I’ll be totally honest with you though. While I’ve been doing those things, I’ve also:

  • Binged all three seasons of Ozark in three days…
  • Eaten an entire bag of Oreos
  • Watched 20 movies
  • Drank more beer

This is a tough time for all of us, I’m not mistaken.  However, we can decide to use this extra time as a gift as opposed to thinking of it as a burden.  Get more sleep, train your body, feed your mind and use this time to improve at least one aspect of your life.  Be gentle with yourself when you have a bad day, life is not linear. Get better at one thing. I think you’ll find that when the quarantine is lifted, you’ll be glad you did.

To your lifelong health and success,

-Demarco
