The key to success is preparation.  There’s no way around it.  Every once in a while, we get a lucky break, but don’t count on that.  One habit that’s really helped me stay focused and effective is my Strategy Sunday session.  It doesn’t take a lot of work and really sets me up for an effective week.

I’m sure my Sunday is similar to yours in many ways.  Laundry, groceries, errands and other random tasks to accomplish before going into another week.  After completing these and setting up my work schedule for the week, I plan out what my tasks are.  Here is my simple process…

  1. Plan my workouts.  This can very quickly get put on the back-burner if we’re not careful.  I schedule my sessions with Sean on the front-end, already feeling accomplished as I’ve prioritized my own mental and physical health.
  2. Write down a master to-do list.  This contains all of the things I need to get done by the end of the week.  This has been a great way to condense everything, having only one weekly list instead of a daily list that I’ll lose track of at some point.  I stick it to the refrigerator and cross-out items as they’re completed.  Seeing a bunch of lines at the end of the week is very satisfying, and a great reminder that it was a productive week.

There you have it!  It’s a simple process but it has worked well for me.  Give it a shot and let me know if it works for you.

Train your body.  Feed your mind.
