Talk to anyone and at one point in their life they had a goal. They had a dream, vision and something big they wanted to accomplish. Of course, in reality how many people actually make it to their desired destination? Not many, unfortunately.
The conversation usually begins with “what happened?” Then, the excuses come. The problem here is that simply blaming circumstances is too easy. It’s someone else’s fault therefore I have no responsibility.
Let’s face it. Life is a series of challenges and inconveniences. We are presented with one challenge after another, at times it can be extremely overwhelming. Want to know what the difference is between the greats and the rest of us? Their ability to focus. They face challenges just as we do, for they are only human. However, they’re able to stay the course, even after a setback. The GOATS are the ones who use the pain of bad experiences as fuel to work harder and get better.
Of course we all experience obstacles along the way. That’s part of the game. The more time you spend getting upset, blaming others wallowing in your misery, the less there is to work, learn and get better at your craft. When you experience a setback, how long does it take you to get back on-track? Days? Weeks? Months? Whatever issue you’re facing, remember that there’s only so much time in the day. Give it the minimum amount of time needed to process then move on. No matter the economy, who is in the White House, the weather, the stock market, nothing can stop you from working and getting better. Or, as the Rock put it: “FOCUS!”
Train your body. Feed your mind.
