If you’re already thinking about 2021 goals, you’re missing a huge opportunity. Let’s face it, once Thanksgiving hits, we all start coasting. When we’re lounging on the couch recovering from the tryptophan hangover watching football, we’re officially in holiday-mode. Trees, gifts, desserts, time-off, anything other than work, you name it.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I love this time of year to spend with friends and family, but it’s a slippery slope. What starts off as a few days of celebration turns into two months of eating, drinking and skating by. Don’t be fooled, though. The down time is great for recovery, but too much will make you stagnant. Not only that, it will be harder for you to get back in the game come 2021. Bane said it best: “Peace has cost you your strength.” Don’t let the holiday season make you soft.
It’s the 4th quarter, 5-minutes left on the clock. If you’re killing it this year and blowing your goals out of the water, coast away and enjoy yourself. However, if you’re like most of us (present company included) and a little behind, you know what to do. It’s time to dig-in, put the work in and move the sticks.
I want you to enjoy this holiday season. 2020 has been hard enough, don’t deprive yourself of the pleasure that it brings. However, my challenge to you is this; enjoy your holiday season while also putting the work in. Set yourself up for a successful 2021 by going on the offensive now. Will you put the last 5-minutes on the field to good use?
Train your body. Feed your mind.
